Again this book by Rebel Girls is very inspirational， I find myself wondering whether me and my daughters will be similar to the pairs of mother and daughter in this book。 I like that it is colourful， and the illustrations added another layer to the stories， it also have audio story linked to certain pages by app （I haven’t tested that feature yet）。 There are activities suggestions （seems suitable for all ages） at the end of the book as well which enhance the bonding experiences between a parent Again this book by Rebel Girls is very inspirational， I find myself wondering whether me and my daughters will be similar to the pairs of mother and daughter in this book。 I like that it is colourful， and the illustrations added another layer to the stories， it also have audio story linked to certain pages by app （I haven’t tested that feature yet）。 There are activities suggestions （seems suitable for all ages） at the end of the book as well which enhance the bonding experiences between a parent and child。Many thanks Rebel Girls for this digital review copy via NetGalley。 。。。more

I received this book from Netgally in exchange for an honest review。 I absolutely love the series I love the idea and the simple but spot on writing， along with the art work all done by woman always warms my heart。 Unfortunately this instalment wasn’t my fave As I felt the stories where not as compelling as other ones， and adding Beyoncé （again） made me feel like the research put into this book wasn’t quite there， mostly because I’m sure there there are other stories from other people/ countries I received this book from Netgally in exchange for an honest review。 I absolutely love the series I love the idea and the simple but spot on writing， along with the art work all done by woman always warms my heart。 Unfortunately this instalment wasn’t my fave As I felt the stories where not as compelling as other ones， and adding Beyoncé （again） made me feel like the research put into this book wasn’t quite there， mostly because I’m sure there there are other stories from other people/ countries or parts of the world that we haven’t heard yet。I think it’s a lovely idea and a great present for Mother’s Day or a birthday but nothing to be hyped about。 Something I actually really like was the addition of the QR code to find more information about each pair。 By the way I read it on my mums birthday because I love her and I haven’t seen it in 3 years so perhaps I’m being a little sentimental and feeling underwhelmed by it。 。。。more

Rebel Girls Powerful Pairs is a collection of 1-page stories of mothers and their daughters who have achieved something great。 These stories demonstrate an enormous range of ways that moms working with their daughters can make a difference。 From performers to authors to humanitarians， to athletes setting incredible records， to women who helped change the world。 It was great to read one or two of these stories each night before bed with my young daughter and then discuss each of them in more deta Rebel Girls Powerful Pairs is a collection of 1-page stories of mothers and their daughters who have achieved something great。 These stories demonstrate an enormous range of ways that moms working with their daughters can make a difference。 From performers to authors to humanitarians， to athletes setting incredible records， to women who helped change the world。 It was great to read one or two of these stories each night before bed with my young daughter and then discuss each of them in more detail。 The last few pages of the book include some great discussion questions， a page to write your own story。 The prompt to find your own “unicorn space” led to a lot of discussions around what brings joy AND makes a better you。 I was also impressed that each of the stories featured portraits of the mothers and daughters， each illustrated by women from all over the world。 A few of the women don’t have birthdates listed， which made me question whether there was in-depth research done on these women。 One story had birthdates for the two daughters， but they didn’t align with the dates for their accompanying story which led to some confusion around whether the daughters were part of the change or if they came after。 Overall， Rebel Girls Powerful Pairs is another great conversation starter for parents and children。 The stories are engaging， the illustrations colorful and eye-catching， and the discussion content at the end of the book guarantee that this book will be referenced again and again in the coming years。 *I was provided a copy of Rebel Girls Powerful Pairs to review， however， this review is my own and was not influenced by the publisher in any way。 。。。more

Thanks to Netgalley and Rebel Girls for the ARC of this！ I’ve read almost all the Rebel Girls collections and while I think they all have some phenomenal building blocks in common （focus on women， cool illustrations， easy to follow， perfect length stories）， this might be my favorite one yet。 I really liked seeing all the mother daughter pairs and hearing how they worked together。 I especially liked that there were more people I hadn’t ever heard of， while some are hugely famous （Beyoncé and Juli Thanks to Netgalley and Rebel Girls for the ARC of this！ I’ve read almost all the Rebel Girls collections and while I think they all have some phenomenal building blocks in common （focus on women， cool illustrations， easy to follow， perfect length stories）， this might be my favorite one yet。 I really liked seeing all the mother daughter pairs and hearing how they worked together。 I especially liked that there were more people I hadn’t ever heard of， while some are hugely famous （Beyoncé and Julie Andrews， to start） some were just being amazing by being themselves in small towns。 There was a nice variety of occupations， from actors and actresses， athletes， to scientists， nurses， and pilots saving injured pelicans。 If you haven’t tried Rebel Girls yet， I absolutely suggest starting here！ 。。。more

I love the "Rebel Girls" brand - I own a hardcopy of the first in the collection， and it is beautiful。 25 Tales of Mothers and Daughters follows the trusted formula: two-page spreads containing a one-pager about the women （mother-and-daughter， in this case） and an illustration by a female artist。 The pairs featured cover a number of countries， ethnicities， abilities， and interests。 While there have been comments that some of the pairs aren't really "heroes"， that is not what the "Rebel Girls" co I love the "Rebel Girls" brand - I own a hardcopy of the first in the collection， and it is beautiful。 25 Tales of Mothers and Daughters follows the trusted formula: two-page spreads containing a one-pager about the women （mother-and-daughter， in this case） and an illustration by a female artist。 The pairs featured cover a number of countries， ethnicities， abilities， and interests。 While there have been comments that some of the pairs aren't really "heroes"， that is not what the "Rebel Girls" concept is about at all！ In fact， up-ending the traditionalist views of what constitutes a hero is exactly what it is about。 I especially like that these write-ups， while certainly including the pairs' accomplishments， focussed on the bond between the mothers and daughters。 The introduction acknowledges that "mother-daughter relationships come in all flavors， shapes， and sizes。" While this may not be fully explored in these pages， the intricacies of gender and families are not really within the purview of this book。 This is the kind of book I would buy as a hardcopy， not only for my own daughters， but also for other mothers-and-daughters。 I highly recommend it。 I received an eARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more
